Note. Bonds are constant-maturity Treasuries priced from daily yields (carry + duration + convexity).

Edit anything; the result updates as you type. Lines like window = 20 become sliders.

Maturity-weighted butterfly (5.8.1)

The regression-weighted butterfly with β set from the maturities instead of a regression.

Key equation

Lab formula

d1 = of("5Y", duration)
d2 = of("10Y", duration)
d3 = of("30Y", duration)
beta = (10 - 5) / (30 - 10)
p3 = d2 / (d3 * (1 + beta))
p1 = beta * p3 * d3 / d1
scale(p1 * is("5Y") + p3 * is("30Y") - is("10Y"))

Bonds are constant-maturity Treasuries priced from daily yields (carry + duration + convexity).

How the backtest works

The formula is evaluated for every asset on every day. Its values become positions at that day’s close, using the portfolio rule you pick, and earn the next day’s close-to-close return. Costs are charged in basis points on the amount traded. Everything runs in your browser on daily data from Yahoo Finance, adjusted for splits and dividends.
