Universities

One subject, many names

Universities teach quantitative finance under different names: Financial Engineering (MFE, MSFE), Mathematical Finance, Financial Mathematics, Quantitative Finance (MQF, MScQF), Computational Finance (MSCF), Mathematics and Finance, Quantitative and Computational Finance, Stochastics and Financial Mathematics. The core is usually the same: probability and stochastic calculus, derivatives pricing, numerical methods, statistics and programming. Programmes differ in how much they lean towards pricing, risk, data science or trading, and in how much programming they teach.

Compare what each programme teaches, what it takes to get in, and what its graduates go on to do. Then see the open quant roles to check which skills employers ask for.

About the figures
Outcomes are quoted as each programme or QuantNet publishes them, with the class year. Where a programme publishes nothing, we say so rather than estimate.

Programmes

Each programme page lists the units taught, what you need to get in, the published graduate outcomes, and forum threads where students and graduates discuss it.
