Accounts, learning and payments
Creating an account provides your email and sign-in information to the authentication service, Amazon Cognito. Cookies and browser storage keep your session working across SelfMadeQuant pages and subdomains.
Account-linked records support lesson completion, saved notes, margin-answer conversations, learning preferences and membership access. Some reading history and preferences are also stored on the browser you use.
Stripe handles checkout and the billing portal. SelfMadeQuant stores the customer and subscription identifiers, plan, payment status and relevant billing dates needed to grant access and manage membership. Payment details entered into Stripe are handled by Stripe.
Resource access
If you enter an email to unlock resources, SelfMadeQuant records that email, its access eligibility and the resource collection. A separate access cookie lasts for 90 days. File requests can be recorded in your resource and visitor history.
This email flow is separate from signing in and does not subscribe you to a newsletter. Details are in the resource-access terms.
Activity and analytics
First-party activity records can include visited page paths, referral hosts and campaign labels, reading progress, resource downloads, tool interactions and signup or purchase events. The Directory also records resource previews and interaction summaries, with device and approximate location information where available.
A shared visitor cookie connects activity on SelfMadeQuant subdomains. When you sign in, that browser’s retained history can be linked to your account. Entering an unverified resource email does not sign you in or authenticate another account.
Google Analytics is used for aggregate website and purchase-funnel reporting. Hosting, storage, authentication, payment and optional AI providers process data needed to deliver those features. Third-party sites you open, including Substack and linked resources, have their own privacy practices.
The first-party activity event format is restricted to selected activity fields rather than passwords, full form answers or URL query strings. This is separate from the text you deliberately save in notes or send to the margin-answer feature.
Margin answers
When you request an AI margin answer, your selected text, relevant page context, question and conversation are sent to the configured AI service and saved with your account so you can return to the thread. The current integration supports an OpenRouter-hosted route and configurable model providers.
Do not put confidential client data, payment information or other sensitive material into a question. The answer is generated and may be incorrect.
Storage periods
The visitor cookie is configured for one year, resource access for 90 days, and the optional analytics opt-out cookie for up to 400 days, subject to browser limits. Browser storage can be cleared through your browser settings.
Studio activity and resource-download event records are configured to expire after one year. Directory activity and visitor or account profile records do not currently have an automatic expiry. The expiry of a browser cookie does not itself delete server records.
Account, billing and saved learning records are maintained separately from those event expiry rules. This notice does not promise a fixed deletion period for every category.
Your browser choices
Use the control below to stop optional first-party browser activity collection and Google Analytics for this browser on SelfMadeQuant and its subdomains. It does not disable sign-in, access checks or billing, erase earlier records, or prevent server-confirmed purchase records.
This choice applies to this browser. Signing in and billing still work.
The first-party activity service also respects Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals where supported. Blocking cookies or clearing browser storage may require you to sign in or unlock resource access again.

For a privacy, access or deletion request, email selfmadequant@gmail.com from the address associated with the account or resource access. Identity may need to be confirmed before account information can be changed or disclosed.
