Barbells
Split the money between a short and a long maturity so the duration matches a mid-maturity bullet, gaining convexity (better protection against large parallel moves) for a slightly lower yield.
Note. Bonds are constant-maturity Treasuries priced from daily yields (carry + duration + convexity).
Edit anything; the result updates as you type. Lines like window = 20 become sliders.

Barbells (5.3)
Split the money between a short and a long maturity so the duration matches a mid-maturity bullet, gaining convexity (better protection against large parallel moves) for a slightly lower yield.
Key equation
Lab formula
// Match the 10-year bullet's duration with 5- and 30-year bonds
d1 = of("5Y", duration)
d2 = of("10Y", duration)
d3 = of("30Y", duration)
w_long = (d2 - d1) / (d3 - d1)
(1 - w_long) * is("5Y") + w_long * is("30Y")Bonds are constant-maturity Treasuries priced from daily yields (carry + duration + convexity).
How the backtest works
The formula is evaluated for every asset on every day. Its values become positions at that day’s close, using the portfolio rule you pick, and earn the next day’s close-to-close return. Costs are charged in basis points on the amount traded. Everything runs in your browser on daily data from Yahoo Finance, adjusted for splits and dividends.
