Machine Learning Engineer – Research Platform
An engineering role on Virtu's Research Technology team, building the platform that lets quantitative researchers run ML experiments efficiently. It sits between infrastructure and research, with a GPU cluster at its core.
What you’d work on
Our reading of the posting: what a new hire in this role would most likely spend their first months on.
- Build experiment tracking, job orchestration and reproducibility tooling for researchers
- Improve training throughput: data loading, storage I/O and GPU use
- Build versioned data and feature pipelines for training
- Extend simulation and back-test tooling and monitor cluster utilisation
What they ask for
Required
- 5+ years in ML engineering, research infrastructure or HPC
- Strong, well-tested Python
- Distributed training (NCCL, Horovod or similar)
- Experiment tracking systems
- Linux storage, networking and scheduling
Preferred
- Slurm
- GPU profiling (Nsight, PyTorch Profiler)
- Parquet, Arrow, Polars
- Prefect or Dagster
- Time-series data at scale
- Education
- Not stated
- Experience
