What you’d work on

Our reading of the posting: what a new hire in this role would most likely spend their first months on.

  • Maintain and extend FPGA designs used in trading systems
  • Debug and fix FPGA issues in production
  • Write Python unit tests and run simulations in ModelSim
  • Design scalable new systems that remove current latency limits

What they ask for

Required

  • PhD in electrical engineering, computer architecture or similar (in progress or complete)
  • VHDL or Verilog
  • Python for unit testing
  • Xilinx or Altera FPGAs
  • ModelSim
  • Networking protocols such as IP, TCP and UDP

Preferred

  • Large Stratix V or Virtex UltraScale+ projects
Education
PhD in electrical engineering, computer architecture or a closely related discipline, in progress or completed.
Experience
Hardware design experience; no minimum years stated
Languages and tools
  • VHDL
  • Verilog
  • Python

How to prepare

  • Build a small FPGA project in Verilog or VHDL, such as a UDP packet parser, and simulate it
  • Learn the TCP/IP and UDP protocol stack in detail
  • Write Python test benches for hardware designs
