Senior Quantitative Developer

A senior front-office engineering role inside Man Systematic, building the software that quant researchers and portfolio managers rely on. It sits between research and production in a large systematic hedge fund.

What you’d work on

Onboard new datasets into the research and trading platform
Implement new trading signals in production-quality Python
Build portfolio optimisation tools and data visualisation frameworks
Tune slow research code using faster numerical methods and cluster computing

Required

Several years of professional software engineering, ideally quantitative
Expert Python and pandas, plus NumPy, SciPy, statsmodels and scikit-learn
Experience running mission-critical production systems
Linux and Git fluency
SQL or NoSQL database knowledge
Handling large structured and unstructured datasets

Preferred

Front-office experience at a fund, prop firm or bank
Mentoring juniors and managing projects
React web applications
Spark, Dask, Kubernetes or Redis
Time-series and statistics knowledge

Education: Degree with high maths and computing content, such as computer science, maths, engineering or physics
Experience: About 5-7 years of professional software engineering

How to prepare

Write vectorised pandas/NumPy code and profile it for speed
Build a small ETL pipeline with Airflow or similar, with tests and monitoring
Learn how market data is structured and cleaned
Study basic time-series statistics so you can talk to researchers
