C++ Software Engineer – Core Trading Technology

A systems engineering role on the team that runs the firm's global electronic trading infrastructure. It focuses on ultra-low-latency, high-throughput software that sits under live trading.

What you’d work on

Our reading of the posting: what a new hire in this role would most likely spend their first months on.

  • Profile and trim latency in order-flow and market-data paths on Linux
  • Debug live issues using packet captures, core dumps and profilers
  • Harden multicast and TCP/UDP networking between sites
  • Add benchmarks so regressions in throughput are caught early

What they ask for

Required

  • Modern C++ on Linux
  • Multithreading and concurrency
  • TCP, UDP and multicast networking
  • Distributed systems in production
  • Profiling and debugging tools (gdb, perf, tcpdump)
  • Scalable I/O such as epoll or io_uring
  • Lock-free data structures

Preferred

  • Python and Bash scripting
  • CI/CD and observability tooling
  • Exposure to electronic trading or exchange connectivity
Education
No degree level stated; about two years of professional C++ experience expected.
Experience
2+ years of professional C++/C development on Linux
Languages and tools
  • C++
  • C
  • Python
  • Bash

How to prepare

  • Build a small UDP multicast market-data feed handler and measure its latency
  • Learn perf, gdb and tcpdump by profiling your own network code
  • Write a lock-free single-producer single-consumer queue and benchmark it
  • Study epoll and io_uring and compare them in a toy server
