AI Research Intern

An internship building and testing LLM and agent-based systems for a multi-strategy hedge fund's APAC platform. It sits between researchers and developers, turning AI ideas into working research and data tools.

What you’d work on

Build LLM pipelines that structure and query unstructured documents and reports
Extend open-source agent frameworks to fit internal research workflows
Prototype small data-processing tools for researchers
Run experiments that test how robust and consistent model outputs are
Debug failure modes in AI workflows and write up the findings

What they ask for

Required

Strong programming in Python, C++ or Java
Hands-on work with LLMs or AI agents
SQL and data pipelines
Clean, modular code
Version control and collaborative workflows
Statistical testing of model behaviour

Preferred

Quantitative research exposure
Financial markets knowledge
Time-series and market datasets

Education: Currently studying or recently completed a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in CS, AI/ML, maths, statistics, engineering or quantitative finance
Experience: Students and recent graduates
Languages and tools: Python
C++
Java
SQL

How to prepare

Build a small agent or retrieval pipeline over a set of filings or reports and evaluate its failure cases
Practise extracting structured tables from messy text into SQL
Write a test harness that measures output consistency across repeated LLM runs
Contribute a fix or extension to an open-source AI framework
