2027 Summer Internship – AI & Quantitative Analyst

A summer internship in Brevan Howard's quant or applied AI group, applying modern AI methods to research and trading problems. It feeds the central analytics platform that portfolio managers and quants rely on.

What you’d work on

Develop pricing and analytics functions (rates, FX, credit, equity) for the central library
Embed AI features into trading tools used by portfolio managers
Work with a PM on signals and backtests
Build LLM-based or agentic tools for research and trade workflows
Test and validate AI outputs before the desk relies on them

What they ask for

Required

Strong maths and quantitative problem-solving
Python programming
Excel and VBA
Machine learning and AI fundamentals you can explain
Interest in financial markets
Clear written and spoken English
Enrolled as penultimate-year undergraduate, or first-year master's/PhD

Education: Penultimate-year undergraduate, or first-year master's or PhD student, finishing before July 2028
Experience: Students; no prior experience stated
Languages and tools: Python
R
VBA
Excel
Markets: fixed-income, fx, credit, equities

How to prepare

Build a small agent or retrieval tool that answers questions over financial documents, and test it for errors
Learn core ML ideas well enough to explain them simply: regularisation, validation, bias and variance
Write a clean Python analytics function (for example bond yield or FX forward) with unit tests
Backtest a simple ML signal and document why it may not hold up
Study the basics of rates, FX, credit and equity products
