Intrinsic and time value of an OTM put

Question

A stock trades at 1717. A European put on it with strike 1515 is worth 7.27.2. With II the put's intrinsic value and EE its extrinsic (time) value, compute I2+E2I^2+E^2.

Short answer

51.8451.84. Exercising now would pay max⁡(15−17,0)=0\max(15-17,0)=0, so I=0I=0 and the whole price is extrinsic, E=7.2E=7.2, giving 7.22=51.847.2^2=51.84.
