Professional Quant Practice / Communication, ethics and defence

Presenting a quantitative project

The Quant Research Dossier already packages hypothesis, data contract, validation design and a promotion-or-reject recommendation. This note decides whether to promote Model M to a bounded trial or to reject, through the oral-defence structure that sits on top of that dossier — without rewriting the capstone. The checkpoint is a defence a sceptical committee can refuse.
Learning objectives. By the end of this note you should be able to:
  • structure an oral defence: question, evidence, alternatives, costs, monitoring, limitation, ask;
  • recommend promote-to-bounded-trial or reject using the standing M numbers;
  • invite refusal criteria instead of demanding applause;
  • keep the defence consistent with Amber validation and ethical duties.
