Junior Algorithmic Trader

An entry-level trader and developer role on TransMarket Group's relative-value arbitrage desks. The person learns market microstructure and automated trading by shipping code under senior traders.

What you’d work on

Study tick data and post-trade results to find strategy improvements
Build prediction models that improve execution
Maintain analytics and model tools used by the desk
Write and support production strategy software in C++ and Python

What they ask for

Required

Technical degree graduating Dec 2026 to spring 2027, or 1-2 years of relevant work
Coursework in data structures, probability, statistics and linear algebra
Strong GPA (3.5/4 or equivalent)
Object-oriented programming (C++, Python, Java)
Understanding of finance and market microstructure

Preferred

Linux scripting
Trading competitions or market-focused clubs
Data analysis or ML projects

Education: Bachelor's, master's or doctorate in a technical field such as STEM or finance
Experience: New graduates (Dec 2026 to spring 2027) or 1-2 years' industry experience
Languages and tools: C++
Python
Java
Linux

How to prepare

Build a post-trade analysis notebook measuring slippage on sample tick data
Study how spreads and order flow behave around news
Practise C++ with data structures and templates
Review statistical arbitrage ideas such as pairs trading
