Senior Performance Researcher

A senior research role studying the path an order takes from exchange data through low-latency systems, networks and brokers to the fill. The aim is to improve real execution outcomes at a market maker.

What you’d work on

Our reading of the posting: what a new hire in this role would most likely spend their first months on.

  • Rebuild full order lifecycles from market, order, system and network data
  • Design experiments to find what drives latency, rejects and fill quality
  • Build metrics and monitoring tools and measure production impact of changes
  • Reason about systems you can only partly observe
  • Turn findings into priorities for engineers, network teams and brokers

What they ask for

Required

  • Deep expertise in low-latency trading, broker/exchange technology, Linux/system performance or high-performance networking
  • TCP/UDP, multicast and kernel-bypass fundamentals
  • Strong Python and data analysis
  • Experience with event, time-series, log or network data
  • Rigorous experimentation
  • Clear communication

Preferred

  • C++
  • Packet analysis
  • Performance profiling
  • Experience with Chinese exchanges and brokers
Education
Not stated.
Experience
Experienced; deep expertise in low-latency systems or networking
Languages and tools
  • Python
  • C++

How to prepare

  • Capture and analyse packet data to measure latency distributions
  • Study how order entry, matching and market data feeds work at an exchange
  • Design a controlled experiment to compare two network or software paths
  • Learn Linux performance profiling and network tuning basics
