Quantitative Research Intern
A research internship on one of Engineers Gate's investment teams, focused on alpha research in global equities. It sits inside a multi-manager platform that shares data, technology and risk infrastructure.
What you’d work on

- Clean and validate raw datasets so equity alpha research can rely on them
- Prototype alpha factors and check they are statistically significant and economically sensible
- Build backtesting set-ups that test how robust a strategy is
- Write up findings for the team in plain terms

- Build a small equity factor study in Python with clean data handling and out-of-sample tests
- Practise writing SQL queries against messy financial tables
- Learn the basics of backtest pitfalls such as look-ahead bias and overfitting
- Get comfortable with Linux command line and Git
- Practise explaining a research result in one page
