Antiderivative of the logarithm by parts

Question

Integrate log⁡x\log x with respect to xx (natural logarithm, x>0x>0).

Short answer

xlog⁡x−x+Cx\log x-x+C. Integrate by parts with u=log⁡xu=\log x, dv=dxdv=dx: ∫log⁡x dx=xlog⁡x−∫x⋅1x dx\int\log x\,dx=x\log x-\int x\cdot\tfrac1x\,dx.
