Limit of Fibonacci terms two steps apart

Question

With FnF_n the Fibonacci numbers, the limit of Fn+2/FnF_{n+2}/F_n as n→∞n\to\infty can be written as a+bc\dfrac{a+\sqrt b}{c} with a,b,ca,b,c positive integers that are pairwise coprime. What is the product abcabc?

Short answer

30. Since Fn+2=Fn+1+FnF_{n+2}=F_{n+1}+F_n, the ratio equals Fn+1/Fn+1→φ+1=φ2=3+52F_{n+1}/F_n+1\to\varphi+1=\varphi^2=\tfrac{3+\sqrt5}{2}, so abc=3⋅5⋅2=30abc=3\cdot5\cdot2=30.
