Market on a spread of two quoted products

Question

You are quoting product AA at 44 bid, 55 offer and product BB at 1010 bid, 1212 offer. What market would you make in the spread A−BA-B? If your quote is bid XX, offer YY, report Y2−X2Y^2-X^2.

Short answer

−39-39. Buying A−BA-B means buying AA at your bid and selling BB at your offer, so the bid is 4−12=−84-12=-8; selling it means selling AA at 55 and buying BB at 1010, so the offer is −5-5. Then 25−64=−3925-64=-39.
