Responding to a provocative question about a tyrant
Question
An interviewer deliberately asks for your view of a notorious historical dictator. How should you respond?
Short answer
Stay calm, be measured and do not take the bait. The question tests composure and judgement under pressure, not your politics. Acknowledge the moral record plainly, perhaps note a factual or analytical point (how they gained power, the economic or historical consequences), keep it brief and professional, and avoid either glib praise or an emotional rant.
